The Gillespie renovation is the interior remodel of a mid century modern ranch house in Urbana, IL. The renovation is for a young family intent on preserving and enhancing their family home. The original house had a consistent 8' ceiling throughout the open floor plan. Part of the renovation included popping up the ceiling at main areas to help define function and give a sense of place. The ceiling pop-ups are clad in shou sugi ban wood. The floors and cabinets are quarter sawn white oak.
